Abstract
A clinical analysis was carried out on 519 patients taken gastrofiberscopy who were considered to have some stomach disease clinically, from March 1975 to August 1976 in Dept. of Internal Medicine, National Medical Center, and the findings were compared also with X-ray study.
The results are as follows:
1) Among all patients, sex distribution was 56.5% of male & 43.5% of female and the 4th decade was the most common in all examined cases.
1) On the gastrofiberscopic findings, the main stomach diseases were gastritis, benign ulcer, stomach cancer in order of frequency, and gastric ascariasis, early cancer, polyp, submucosal tumor, fistula, lymphoma, diverticulum of fundus were also ¢¥noted.
2) On the gastrofiberscopic findings, the main stomach diseases were gastritis, benign ulcer, stomach ascariasis, early cancer, polyp, submucosal tumor, fistula, lymphoma, diverticulum of fundus were also noted.
3) In normal group on gastrofiberscopy, the sex ratio was nearly same, and the most frequent age group was 4th decade with on incidence of 39.3%.
In gastritis, male to female ratio, was also same, and the most common age group was 4th decade, 5th and 6th decade in order of frequency. In benign gastric ulcer, the sex ratio was 3 : 1 with male preponderance, and in age distribution 5th decade was most common, while stomach cancer being 1.6 : 1 & 6th decade was most frequent occurence.
4) In gastritis, chronic superficial gastritis was the most common with 76.2%, atrophic gastritis 16.8%, hemorrhagic gastritis 8.1% and hypertrophic gastritis 2.9%.
5) In benign gastric ulcer, the, site of lesion revealed that the angle is the highest frequency(63.5%¢¥), the next was body (20.0%), and pylorus (16.5%) in order, while gastric cancer, angle is-38.5%, `¢¥pylorus 22.1%, antrum 16.4% and 11.5% of whole stomach involvement.
6) In relationship between radiological and endoscopical findings, equality. was noted in 82.2% , -in benign ulcer and histopathologically confirmed ulcer was in 12 cases which showed no ulcer in. X-ray study, so the false negative was 14.8% radiologicahy. In stomach cancer, equality was 89.3% and radiologically false negative was 9.2%. -Also, ulcer or cancer which were normal or gastritis in endoscopy, was confirmed in histopathologically in 10 cases.
